WBU President Martine Abel-Williamson attended the 10 year anniversary of the Marrakesh treaty. The event was planned by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva at the WIPO headquarters.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Martine Abel-Williamson, World Blind Union (WBU) President, recalled the WBU\u2019s pivotal role in advocating for the Treaty and ongoing efforts to ensure its full implementation. Referring to a gap between ratification and implementation in some member states, she called on the international community to redouble our efforts and work collaboratively to bridge this implementation gap, ensuring that the Marrakesh Treaty\u2019s transformative potential becomes a reality for all.<\/p>\n

Working with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the WBU led the international campaign to develop the Marrakesh Treaty that would enable reproduction of published materials into accessible formats, such as Braille, large print, and audio editions.<\/p>\n
